Netflix Price Hike: Will Nigeria Be Next? Here’s What to Expect

Recently, Netflix has increased its subscription prices in the U.S., Canada, Portugal, and Argentina, sparking speculation that Nigeria could be next. The streaming giant raised its Standard Plan from $15.49 to $17.99 and its Premium Plan from $22.99 to $24.99, all in a bid to fund its growing investment in original contents.

Current Netflix Prices in Nigeria feb. 2025

As of now, Nigerian subscribers pay:

  • Mobile Plan: ₦2,200/month
  • Basic Plan: ₦3,500/month
  • Standard Plan: ₦5,500/month
  • Premium Plan: ₦7,000/month

What a Price Hike Could Look Like 

If Netflix follows its global trend and  decided to increases prices in Nigeria, here’s what we might expect:

  • Standard Plan: Could rise from ₦5,500 to ₦7,000
  • Premium Plan: Might jump from ₦7,000 to ₦9,000

with increasing investment in big-budget productions Netflix is banking on price hikes to sustain its dominance in the streaming market.
